We know that Christ is sovereign. He is all powerful and all knowing; Christ is also meek. While on this earth He was a picture of meekness. We too should have meekness about us.

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am ______ and ______ in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Psalms 25:4 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; _______ me thy paths.

It is hard to put others first sometimes, but that is how we need to be. So many preachers, evangelist, and missionaries put other families before their own. We just need to make sure that it’s coming from God. If it is not from Him then it’s all in vain.

God sends us back to Ephesians 4:1-2. He tells us to walk worth of our vocation, which is our job of serving. How are we to do this?

Colossian 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, __________, longsuffering.

2 Corinthians 10:1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the _______ and _______ of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

Meekness and gentleness of whom?

How does Christ teach us to be meek? What does he tell us about the meek?

Verse Benefits of meekness
Psalms 25:9
Psalm 37:11
Psalm 149:4
Isaiah 29:9
Isaiah 61:1
Matthew 5:5

Along with meekness comes joy. Isaiah 29:19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. Our lives should be filled with joy and counting every blessing. I had a friend today post some encouraging words on a popular social network. She was trying to get an eyelash out of eye because it was bothering her. You know how aggravating that can be? Well, then she wrote this.

Today, I had to get an eyelash out of my eye. Aggravating? Nahhhhh. It was a blessing. You see in 2012, after my second major surgery and lots of chemo, my hair started coming out. My eyelashes totally went away. Soooo the fact one was in my eye was a blessing. Means MAYBE the cooties are all gone and my hair is back in full force. Now, just to get it growing again.
Lesson: don’t always be on the negative side of everything.
God is good.
Faith holds my hand every minute of every day.
Peace out my friends. Elizabeth Goad

We take so many small things in our lives for granted when we need to be finding joy in them. We have so much joy to share with others. God tells us to be joyful or full of joy.

What does God do for you to bring you joy?

Verse JOY
Isaiah 56:7
Nehemiah 8:10
John 16:24
Jude 1:24
1 Peter 4:13

Read Psalm 35:9, 63:5, 66:1, 81:1, 95:1, and 98:4 and 6. List all the ways we should be joyful to God.

We must keep our joy never let it go. If you see it slipping away, ask God to refresh us again. We must finish with joy. In Acts 20:24, Paul says. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Philippians 2:1-5, why do we need to ask God to fulfil our joy? What is the purpose of needing joy in our lives?

Christ wants his joy to remain in us fully. John 15:11, These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Application: Keep your joy fresh. Look at the world as a child because you are God’s child. Count your many blessing and sing joyful praises to God. Remember to ask God for that joy and He will give it to you.

John 16:22-24 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
